The series finale of Monk did well. The show ended its eight season with a huge rating surge which means it was the most watched hour long, scripted series on basic cable. The series finale had 9.4 million viewers which is pretty good for a Friday night.

The show has benefited USA in many ways, not just an excellent series finale. It helped put USA on the original series map. Monk helped to bring in new viewers for “White Collar” and “Psych.” Tony Shalhoub won three Emmys for his portrayal of Adrian Monk.

The conclusion of the two part Monk finale solved the case that has been plaguing Monk since the start of the series, the murder of his wife Trudy. (SPOILER) In the episode we learned that Trudy had an affair with with her law school professor years before she met Monk. She had a baby that she thought was dead, but it is actually still alive. The child is 26 and becomes Monk’s pride and joy. He takes hundreds of photo of the newly discovered child, named Molly. Monk is still the same obsessive compulsive decetective with a new job with the police.

What did you think of the finale? I know that it made me want to start watching the series from the beginning.

Here is the question that has been on everybody’s mind: is Monk coming back after the winter? And the answer is a very sad no. December 4th is scheduled to be the very last episode of Monk. Of course that doesn’t mean that you can’t watch past episodes online.
In the last few episodes of Monk, Monk is searching for Trudy’s killer so we know that in the very last episode he will find her killer. The real question is, will finding her murderer stop his obsessive compulsive behavior? The only way to find out is to watch the episode for yourself.

Adrian Monk (Tony Shaloub) is the obsessive compulsive detective who was kicked off the police force when his eccentric behavior got to be too much. The death of his wife, Trudy, exacerbated his symptoms making it difficult to function. Even when his OCD is an overwhelming force, Monk still has powerful skills of observation which has helped him solve cases throughout the 8 seasons the show has been on.

In the final episodes of Monk, he starts to come to terms with his condition, and his symptoms start to drop away. If the symptoms are improved significantly, Monk is able to move forward in his life and he won’t be stuck as a private investigator with an aversion to being with others.

Season 8 of Monk has been following the same format as the past seasons. It has the same 16 episode format, but the final 5 episodes of the season are interconnected. They all help to bring a sense of closure to the series. The final episode is a two parter that focuses on Trudy’s murder and Monk will finally be able to achieve closure as he finds the murderer.
